Een van de meest herkenbare voertuigen uit de James Bond-canon gaat binnenkort onder de hamer. De iconische gele Citroën 2CV, bekend van de spectaculaire achtervolgingsscène in de film For Your Eyes Only , wordt in juli 2025 geveild door Heritage Auctions.
De Citroen 2CV, beroemd geworden door zijn onverwachte rol als vluchtwagen voor Roger Moore’s James Bond, is inmiddels een cultobject onder zowel filmliefhebbers als autoverzamelaars. In plaats van een hightech Aston Martin, koos Bond dit keer — noodgedwongen — voor een bescheiden, maar verrassend wendbare Franse klassieker. Het resultaat was een van de meest memorabele en humoristische achtervolgingsscènes in de geschiedenis van de franchise.
Het voertuig dat wordt aangeboden is een van de originele auto’s die daadwerkelijk werden gebruikt tijdens de opnames. Volgens Heritage Auctions is de auto grotendeels in originele staat en zorgvuldig bewaard gebleven. Details als de karakteristieke gele lak en het Spaanse kenteken “M 4359 00”, dat ook in de film te zien is, maken het voertuig extra waardevol.
Experts verwachten dat de 2CV tussen de $120.000 en $160.000 kan opbrengen, mede door de zeldzaamheid én het feit dat het hier gaat om een filmautentic exemplaar. “Voor veel fans is dit geen gewone auto, maar een stukje Bond-erfgoed,” aldus een woordvoerder van Heritage Auctions. “Het is een unieke kans om een iconisch filmvoertuig te bezitten dat charme, geschiedenis en actie in zich verenigt.”
De veiling vindt plaats in juli 2025 en zal zowel online als live te volgen zijn via het platform van Heritage Auctions. Naast de 2CV worden ook andere filmaffiliaties en memorabilia geveild, waaronder zeldzame posters en rekwisieten uit verschillende Bond-films.
