De Aston Martin DB5 uit No Time To Die begint vorm te krijgen. Met pack 7 kunnen we zelfs zeggen dat het interieur zo goed als klaar is.
Dit deel begint met misschien wel de coolste gadget van de auto: de schietstoel. En zoals je kunt lezen in de review van deel 6, waren we erg tevreden over de manier waarop Agora Models het leer heeft weten na te bootsen. We waren vooral benieuwd of het mechanisme van de schietstoel niet te kwetsbaar is. En dat valt dus wel mee. Eigenlijk is het een relatief eenvoudig mechanisme waarvan we kunnen zeggen dat het niet snel kapot zal gaan. Vergeleken met de bestuurdersstoel heeft de stoel een harde binnenkant. Hij schuift over de constructie voor het afvuurmechanisme. De stoel moet stevig aangedrukt worden, maar dat is zeker geen probleem. Aan de onderkant zit een palletje om de schietstoel te activeren.
The Aston Martin DB5 from No Time To Die is starting to take shape. In part 7, we can even say the interior is as good as finished.
This part starts with perhaps the car’s coolest gadget: the ejector seat. And as you can read in the review of part 6, we were very pleased with the way Agora Models managed to replicate the leather. We were especially curious whether the ejector seat’s mechanism is not too fragile. And so that’s not too bad. Actually, it is a relatively simple mechanism that we can say will not break down easily. Compared to the driver’s seat, it has a hard interior. It slides over the construction for the firing mechanism. The seat has to be pressed firmly, but that is certainly not a problem. At the bottom is a little pallet to activate the ejector seat.
En na de montage van de achterbank is het tijd om te beginnen met een heel mooi stuk van de auto: het dashboard. Voor dit deel van de auto heeft Agora Models ervoor gekozen om met meerdere lagen te werken, waardoor de klokken die in het dashboard verborgen zitten een realistische diepte krijgen. Er is veel aandacht besteed aan de verfijning van de behuizing van de teller. Je kunt eenvoudig de klok en de kilometerstand aflezen. En wat ons overkwam: een van de knoppen die apart in het dashboard moet worden ingesteld, schoot eraf en we konden hem niet meer vinden. Maar tot onze grote verbazing zagen we een paar dagen later iets op tafel liggen: het knopje. En daarmee konden we het dashboard toch afmaken.
And after assembling the rear seat, it is time to start working on a very nice piece of the car: the dashboard. For this part of the car, Agora Models chose to work with multiple layers, giving a realistic depth to the clocks hidden in the dashboard. Much attention has been paid to the refinement of the counter housing. You can easily read the clock and the odometer reading. And what happened to us: one of the buttons to be set separately in the dashboard popped off and we couldn’t find it. But to our great surprise, a few days later we saw something on the table: the button. And with it, we were able to finish the dashboard after all.
De verfijndheid van de afdruk komt ook terug in het volgende onderdeel: de radio met daarnaast, achter een slide, het GPS-systeem. Dit wordt niet gebruikt in de film No Time To Die, maar Agora Models koos ervoor om de originele GPS uit de film Goldfinger terug te brengen. De schuif werkt ook en de GPS krijgt ook een lampje, wat een extra dimensie toevoegt aan het interieur.
The finesse of the print is also reflected in the next part: the radio with the GPS system next to it, behind a slide. This is not used in the film No Time To Die, but Agora Models chose to bring back the original GPS from the film Goldfinger. The slide also works and the GPS also gets a light, adding an extra dimension to the interior.
De lagen in het dashboard zijn goed te zien bij het maken van de tellerbehuizing waarin de snelheidsmeter en toerenteller zitten. Op transparante acrylplaat moeten de decals worden geplakt, daarvoor komt nog een transparante acrylplaat die het glaswerk van de tellerbehuizing voorstelt. En daarvoor komt een laag met de chromen omlijsting van de tellers en het geheel zit in het dashboard. Het hele setje wordt vastgezet met drie schroeven en geeft een mooie, gedetailleerde weergave van een originele auto.
Tot slot wordt het stuur en de extra elektrische bedrading aangebracht. Het stuurwiel is van metaal en prachtig afgewerkt. Alle onderdelen kunnen in elkaar worden gezet en daarmee is het interieur bijna helemaal af.
The layers in the dashboard are easy to see when making the counter housing that houses the speedometer and tachometer. On transparent acrylic sheet the decals have to be stuck, before that comes another transparent acrylic sheet representing the glasswork of the counter housing. And before that comes a layer with the chrome frame of the counters and the whole thing sits in the dashboard. The whole set is secured with three screws and gives a nice, detailed representation of an original car.
Finally, the steering wheel and additional electrical wiring is fitted. The steering wheel is made of metal and beautifully finished. All parts can be assembled and with this, the interior is almost complete.
