De Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences heeft bekendgemaakt om de Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award toe te kennen aan producenten Michael G. Wilson en Barbara Broccoli.
De Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, nu een Oscarbeeldje, wordt uitgereikt aan creatieve producenten “wier oeuvre een constante hoge kwaliteit van filmproductie weerspiegelt“. Ze hebben enkele van de meest succesvolle 007-films ooit geproduceerd, waaronder Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre en No Time to Die.
Wilson en Broccoli hebben ook onafhankelijke filmprojecten geproduceerd en geleid, zoals Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool, Nancy, The Rhythm Section, Till en The Accidental Getaway Driver. Ze zijn directeuren van de Broccoli Foundation, opgericht door Dana en Albert R. Broccoli om kunst, geneeskunde en onderwijs te steunen. Cubby Broccoli ontving de Thalberg Award eerder in 1981. Barbara Broccoli is de tweede vrouw die de Thalberg Award ontvangt.
De Oscar-beeldjes worden uitgereikt tijdens het Governors Awards-evenement van de Academy op zondag 17 november 2024 in de Ray Dolby Ballroom in Ovation Hollywood.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced to award the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
The Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, now an Oscar statuette, is given to creative producers “whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of film production“. They have produced some of the most successful 007 films ever made, including Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time to Die.
Wilson and Broccoli have also produced and directed independent film projects such as Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool, Nancy, The Rhythm Section, Till and The Accidental Getaway Driver. They are directors of the Broccoli Foundation, founded by Dana and Albert R. Broccoli to support arts, medicine and education. Cubby Broccoli previously received the Thalberg Award in 1981. Barbara Broccoli is the second woman to receive the Thalberg Award.
The Oscar statuettes will be presented at the Academy’s Governors Awards event on Sunday 17 November 2024 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Ovation Hollywood.
