De Ian Fleming Foundation heeft een belangrijke stap gezet in het digitaal bewaren van de rijke geschiedenis achter iconische James Bond-voertuigen. De organisatie maakte bekend een langdurige samenwerking aan te gaan met AUTIX, een Amerikaans platform gespecialiseerd in digitale voertuigidentiteit, herkomst en AI-gestuurde waardebepaling.
Met deze samenwerking krijgt ieder voertuig uit de collectie van de Ian Fleming Foundation een volledig digitaal dossier. Daarin worden eigendomsgeschiedenis, restauraties, originele productiedocumentatie en filmoptredens vastgelegd. Elk voertuig ontvangt bovendien een permanente digitale identiteit via QR-codes en NFC-technologie, waardoor bezoekers van evenementen en tentoonstellingen eenvoudig met hun smartphone toegang krijgen tot alle beschikbare informatie.
De Ian Fleming Foundation beheert één van de grootste particuliere verzamelingen van originele James Bond-filmvoertuigen en props ter wereld. Tot de collectie behoren onder meer de Aston Martin V8 Volante uit The Living Daylights, Tracy’s Mercury Cougar XR-7 uit On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, de BMW R1200C motorfiets uit Tomorrow Never Dies en de Jaguar XKR uit Die Another Day. Achter elk voertuig schuilt een uitgebreid archief van documenten, restauratiegegevens en productiegeschiedenis. Volgens de Ian Fleming Foundation draait het project niet alleen om technologie, maar vooral om het beschermen van de verhalen achter deze unieke voertuigen. Documentatie over de herkomst bestaat vaak uit fysieke archieven, losse dossiers en kennis van verzamelaars en curatoren. Wanneer die informatie verloren gaat, verdwijnt ook een belangrijk deel van de authenticiteit en historische waarde van een voertuig. AUTIX wil dat voorkomen door een permanent digitaal archief te creëren dat meereist met het voertuig, ongeacht waar het zich bevindt.
Het platform gebruikt daarnaast een systeem genaamd xEstimate™, waarmee voertuigen een AI-gestuurde waardebepaling krijgen op basis van herkomst, modificaties en actuele marktomstandigheden. Vooral bij filmvoertuigen kan dat interessant zijn, omdat hun culturele en historische betekenis vaak moeilijk in traditionele marktwaarden te vatten is. Alan J. Porter, voorzitter van de Ian Fleming Foundation, noemt de samenwerking een belangrijke ontwikkeling voor de organisatie. Hij benadrukt dat de Ian Fleming Foundation haar collectie volgens museumstandaarden restaureert en conserveert, zodat deze via tentoonstellingen en evenementen toegankelijk blijft voor het publiek. Dankzij AUTIX kunnen die verhalen nu ook digitaal worden bewaard en gedeeld, ver buiten de muren van een tentoonstelling.
Ook AUTIX-oprichter Jake Hamann spreekt van een bijzondere samenwerking. Volgens hem vertegenwoordigt de documentatie van de Ian Fleming Foundation precies het niveau waarvoor het platform ontwikkeld werd. Hij benadrukt dat dezelfde technologie niet alleen bedoeld is voor exclusieve collecties, maar ook beschikbaar wordt voor gewone autoliefhebbers en verzamelaars die hun voertuigen en geschiedenis digitaal willen vastleggen.
De samenwerking wordt officieel gepresenteerd tijdens “The Unveiling”, een exclusief black-tie evenement dat op 20 juni 2026 plaatsvindt in samenwerking met SupercarsInDallas en Cars & Coverica. Daar krijgen genodigden een selectie Bond-voertuigen te zien samen met hun live AUTIX-profielen. Voor James Bond-fans betekent het project vooral dat iconische voertuigen uit de filmgeschiedenis een nieuwe digitale toekomst krijgen. Van de Lotus Esprit Submarine uit The Spy Who Loved Me tot de klassieke Aston Martins en Jaguars uit latere films: de verhalen achter deze voertuigen blijven voortaan niet alleen bewaard in archieven, maar worden ook toegankelijk voor een wereldwijd publiek.
The Ian Fleming Foundation has taken a major step in digitally preserving the rich history behind iconic James Bond vehicles. The organisation has announced a long-term partnership with AUTIX, an American platform specialising in digital vehicle identity, provenance, and AI-driven valuation.
Through this collaboration, every vehicle in the Ian Fleming Foundation collection will receive a complete digital dossier. This will include ownership history, restoration records, original production documentation, and on-screen appearances. Each vehicle will also be assigned a permanent digital identity through QR codes and NFC technology, allowing visitors at events and exhibitions to access all available information easily via their smartphones.

According to him, the Ian Fleming Foundation’s level of documentation represents exactly the standard for which the platform was created. He stresses that the same technology is not intended solely for exclusive collections, but will also be available to everyday car enthusiasts and collectors wishing to digitally document their vehicles and their history.
The partnership will officially debut during “The Unveiling”, an exclusive black-tie event taking place on 20 June 2026 in collaboration with SupercarsInDallas and Cars & Coverica. Guests will have the opportunity to view a selection of Bond vehicles alongside their live AUTIX profiles. For James Bond fans, the project ultimately means that iconic vehicles from film history are being given a new digital future. From the Lotus Esprit Submarine from The Spy Who Loved Me to the classic Aston Martins and Jaguars from later films, the stories behind these vehicles will no longer be preserved solely in archives, but will also become accessible to a worldwide audience.
