In mei 2026 vormt de Turkse metropool Istanbul opnieuw het indrukwekkende decor voor een bijzondere James Bond-ervaring. Onder de titel Operation Krilencu 2026 organiseert Bond-expert Martijn Mulder, bekend van On The Tracks Of 007, een vijfdaagse reis langs iconische filmlocaties uit From Russia With Love, The World Is Not Enough en Skyfall.
De brochure omschrijft Istanbul als een “real-life fairytale”, met mysterieuze straatjes, historische gebouwen en statige moskeeën die bezoekers het gevoel geven alsof ze wandelen door een sprookje uit 1001 Nacht. De stad werd in 1963 al aangedaan door Sean Connery voor de opnames van From Russia with Loveen noemde het “Moonlight over the Bosphorus”. Sindsdien keerde Bond er meerdere keren naar terug. Niet alleen voor From Russia with Love, maar ook voor latere films, waaronder The World Is Not Enough en de spectaculaire opening van Skyfall.
Istanbul is een van de oudste continu bewoonde steden ter wereld en de enige die zich uitstrekt over twee continenten. De stad fungeerde meer dan 1500 jaar als hoofdstad van opeenvolgende wereldrijken en staat bekend om haar duizenden moskeeën, ontelbare straatkatten en de wereldberoemde Grand Bazaar, een van de oudste en grootste overdekte markten ter wereld. Het zijn precies deze elementen die Istanbul tot een geliefde film- én reisbestemming maken.
De reis vindt plaats van 24 tot en met 28 mei 2026 en biedt een zorgvuldig samengesteld programma voor filmliefhebbers. Deelnemers verblijven vier nachten in het vijfsterren Wyndham Old City Hotel, inclusief dagelijks ontbijt. Op maandag 25 mei begint het programma met een uitgebreide wandeling door de historische binnenstad. Tijdens deze tour worden diverse filmlocaties uit From Russia With Love en Skyfall bezocht. Ook staat een bezoek aan de Hagia Sophia op de planning. Omdat de moskee sinds enkele jaren weer volledig actief is, krijgen bezoekers enkel toegang tot de bovenverdieping; de benedenverdieping, waar scènes voor From Russia With Love werden opgenomen, is niet toegankelijk voor niet-moslims.
De dag erna volgt een groepsbezoek aan de Grand Bazaar, waar meerdere Bond-scènes zijn gefilmd. Een bijzonder onderdeel is de wandeling over de daken van de bazaar, een locatie die een prominente rol speelde in de openingsachtervolging van Skyfall.
Op woensdag 27 mei stappen deelnemers in de bus om verdere filmlocaties buiten het stadscentrum te verkennen. De dag wordt afgesloten met een boottocht over de Bosporus. Tijdens deze tocht wordt langs de Maiden Tower gevaren, bekend uit The World Is Not Enough, maar er wordt niet aangelegd omdat er in werkelijkheid geen opnames zijn gemaakt.
De deelnameprijs bedraagt €1.099,– per persoon bij een gedeelde kamer of €1.399,– voor wie alleen reist. Leden van On The Tracks Of 007 krijgen 50 euro korting. Vluchten, toeristenbelasting, lunches, diners en overige persoonlijke uitgaven zijn niet inbegrepen.
Er geldt een strikt annuleringsbeleid: deelnemers krijgen alleen geld terug wanneer hun plaats kan worden doorverkocht aan iemand op de wachtlijst. Daarnaast wordt benadrukt dat flexibiliteit belangrijk is, aangezien routes en schema’s kunnen wijzigen door lokale omstandigheden. Inschrijven verloopt via een online formulier. Na registratie ontvangen deelnemers een bevestiging met betaalinstructies. Betaling moet binnen zeven werkdagen worden voldaan en is definitief zodra deze is ontvangen. Voor betalingen via creditcard en PayPal geldt een extra toeslag.

The brochure describes Istanbul as a “real-life fairytale”, with mysterious alleyways, historic buildings and majestic mosques that make visitors feel as though they are wandering through a tale from One Thousand and One Nights. The city was already visited by Sean Connery in 1963 for the filming of From Russia with Love, during which he famously referred to it as “Moonlight over the Bosphorus”. Since then, Bond has returned several times — not only for From Russia with Love, but also for later films, including The World Is Not Enough and the spectacular opening of Skyfall.
Istanbul is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and the only one that spans two continents. The city served as the capital of successive empires for more than 1,500 years and is renowned for its thousands of mosques, countless street cats and the world-famous Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest covered markets on the planet. It is precisely these elements that make Istanbul such a beloved destination for both film enthusiasts and travellers.
The trip will take place from 24 to 28 May 2026 and offers a carefully curated programme for film enthusiasts. Participants will stay for four nights at the five-star Wyndham Old City Hotel, including daily breakfast. On Monday 25 May, the programme begins with an extensive walking tour through the historic city centre. During this tour, various filming locations from From Russia With Love and Skyfall will be visited. A visit to the Hagia Sophia is also planned. As the mosque has once again been fully active for several years, visitors are granted access only to the upper floor; the ground floor, where scenes for From Russia With Love were filmed, is not accessible to non-Muslims.
The following day includes a group visit to the Grand Bazaar, where several Bond scenes were filmed. A particularly special highlight is the walk across the rooftops of the bazaar, a location that featured prominently in the opening chase sequence of Skyfall.
On Wednesday 27 May, participants will board a bus to explore additional filming locations outside the city centre. The day concludes with a boat trip along the Bosphorus. During this cruise, the route passes the Maiden’s Tower, known from The World Is Not Enough, but no stop is made there, as no scenes were actually filmed at the location.
The participation fee is €1,099 per person based on shared accommodation, or €1,399 for single occupancy. Members of On The Tracks Of 007 receive a €50 discount. Flights, tourist tax, lunches, dinners, and other personal expenses are not included.
A strict cancellation policy applies: participants will only receive a refund if their place can be resold to someone on the waiting list. It is also emphasised that flexibility is important, as routes and schedules may change due to local conditions. Registration takes place via an online form. After signing up, participants will receive a confirmation with payment instructions. Payment must be made within seven working days and becomes final once it has been received. An additional fee applies to payments made by credit card or PayPal.
