Quartet Records, in samenwerking met MGM, brengt een nieuwe heruitgave van de soundtrack van Casino Royale(1967) uit. Het gaat om de eerste officiële volledige vinyleditie van Burt Bacharachs tijdloze muziek voor de James Bond-parodie, ditmaal geperst op blauw en oranje 180-grams vinyl.
De soundtrack opent met het sprankelende hoofdthema van Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, gevolgd door hoogtepunten als het zwoele The Look Of Love van Dusty Springfield en de uitbundige actiemuziek uit de finale van de film. De oorspronkelijke uitgave, geproduceerd door Phil Ramone, bood destijds een zorgvuldig samengestelde selectie van de partituur. Dankzij de indrukwekkende geluidskwaliteit groeide de LP uit tot een van de meest begeerde verzamelobjecten onder liefhebbers.
Voor deze heruitgave is de score volledig gerestaureerd en opnieuw gemasterd door Chris Malone. Zijn aanpak was gericht op het corrigeren van technische onvolkomenheden, zoals tape-uitval en analoge splices, zonder de dynamiek en helderheid van de originele opnamen aan te tasten. Zo blijft de warme, authentieke klank behouden, vrij van overmatige compressie.
De set bestaat uit twee platen: de eerste bevat een geremasterde versie van het originele stereovinyl, terwijl de tweede zeldzame, nooit eerder uitgebrachte muziek in mono biedt. Daarmee krijgen verzamelaars een unieke kans om zowel de vertrouwde klassiekers als onbekende parels uit Bacharachs partituur te beluisteren.
De uitgave verschijnt als gelimiteerde editie van slechts 500 exemplaren en wordt gepresenteerd in een luxe gatefold-hoes, voorzien van de iconische coverillustratie van Robert McGinnis. Het pakket wordt compleet gemaakt met liner notes van Jeff Bond en een aparte insert waarin Chris Malone zijn technische restauratieproces toelicht. Met deze release bevestigt Quartet Records opnieuw zijn reputatie als label dat filmmuziek met zorg en toewijding nieuw leven inblaast – en geeft het verzamelaars een ware must-have in handen.

Produced by record industry legend Phil Ramone, the original soundtrack LP offered selected highlights, expertly edited to showcase the best parts of the entire score. Thanks to the legendary sound quality of the stereo copies, this record became one of the most highly sought-after collectibles in the industry.
This straight re-issue of our 2019 vinyl edition was produced, restored and mastered by Chris Malone, rebuilding the score from the ground up. The soundtrack album has long been considered a cornerstone of an audiophile’s collection. Lauded by The Absolute Sound, the original Colgems release continues to remain in pole position as the best sounding “popular” LP vinyl disc of all time.
Malone’s work was focused on addressing unintended technical anomalies (such as filling dropouts and covering analogue splices) rather than broadly applying a modern sound palette. He has eschewed dynamic range compression and retained the brilliance of the original recording. The first LP is a fully remastered reissue of the iconic original stereo vinyl, playing in all its splendor. The second LP contains all the unreleased material, in mono, which are still the only available source to date.
This special 2XLP is a limited edition pressed on 180-gram blue and orange vinyl, all of it housed in a gatefold jacket, retaining the iconic original cover art by Robert McGinnis. The package includes liner notes by Jeff Bond, with a separate insert with a tech-talk by Chris Malone.
