Ian Fleming Publications heeft op de geboortedag van Ian Fleming drie nieuwe publicaties aangekondigd voor dit jaar. Liefhebbers van het literaire Bond-universum kunnen zich opmaken voor een audio-editie van Raymond Bensons The Hook And The Eye, een heruitgave van Danger Society: The Young Bond Dossier van Charlie Higson en een nieuwe hardback-editie van Ian Fleming – The Notes van John Pearson.
De aankondiging onderstreept opnieuw hoe actief Ian Fleming Publications momenteel inzet op de uitbreiding van het Bond-universum buiten de klassieke 007-romans. Het verhaal speelt zich af in 1952, chronologisch tussen Ian Flemings Live and Let Die en Diamonds Are Forever. Felix Leiter is zijn baan bij de CIA kwijtgeraakt en werkt inmiddels voor het Pinkerton Detective Agency. Wat begint als een simpele observatieopdracht in Manhattan mondt uit in een gevaarlijke spionagezaak vol moord, verraad en geheimzinnige figuren. Volgens Ian Fleming Publications combineert het verhaal elementen van een klassieke spionagethriller, roadmovie en noir-mysterie. Raymond Benson is voor veel lezers geen onbekende naam. Hij schreef in de jaren negentig en vroege jaren 2000 verschillende officiële Bond-romans, waaronder Zero Minus Ten, High Time to Kill en Never Dream of Dying. Zijn terugkeer naar de wereld van Bond werd vorig jaar al enthousiast ontvangen door fans. De audio-editie van The Hook And The Eye verschijnt wereldwijd op 5 augustus 2026.
Ook Young Bond-fans krijgen iets om naar uit te kijken. Ian Fleming Publications brengt namelijk een nieuwe paperback-editie uit van Danger Society: The Young Bond Dossier van Charlie Higson. Het rijk geïllustreerde boek verscheen oorspronkelijk tijdens de hoogdagen van de Young Bond-serie en geldt als een uitgebreide gids voor de wereld van de jonge James Bond. Naast achtergrondinformatie bevat het boek karakterprofielen, gadgets, voertuigen, locaties, illustraties en een exclusief kort verhaal van Charlie Higson. De heruitgave lijkt geen toeval. Eerder werd namelijk aangekondigd dat Big Finish later dit jaar een audiodrama zal uitbrengen van SilverFin, het eerste Young Bond-verhaal van Higson. De derde aangekondigde uitgave is misschien wel het meest interessant voor Fleming-verzamelaars en Bond-historici. Ian Fleming – The Notes van John Pearson krijgt namelijk voor het eerst een reguliere hardcover-uitgave. Het boek bevat de originele notities die Pearson in 1965 maakte tijdens zijn onderzoek naar Ian Fleming. Pearson schreef later The Life of Ian Fleming, de eerste officiële biografie van de Bond-bedenker, en kreeg zelfs de bijnaam “James Bonds enige geautoriseerde biograaf”.
Tot nu toe was The Notes slechts beschikbaar in een zeer beperkte editie, maar daar komt nu verandering in. Volgens Ian Fleming Publications biedt het boek een unieke blik achter de schermen van Flemings leven én op Pearsons eigen zoektocht naar de man achter 007. De hardcover-editie verschijnt op 18 november 2026.

Fans of the literary Bond universe can look forward to an audio edition of Raymond Benson’s The Hook And The Eye, a reissue of Danger Society: The Young Bond Dossier by Charlie Higson, and a new hardback edition of Ian Fleming – The Notes by John Pearson.
The announcement once again highlights how actively Ian Fleming Publications is continuing to expand the Bond universe beyond the classic 007 novels. In particular, the combination of new stories, Young Bond material and historical Fleming archives demonstrates the publisher’s intention to appeal to both new and nostalgic Bond fans alike. The most notable announcement is undoubtedly the audio edition of The Hook And The Eye, the first Felix Leiter spin-off novel written by former Bond author Raymond Benson. The book was previously released in paperback and eBook formats and will now receive a full audiobook release, narrated by Stuart W. Howard.
The story is set in 1952, chronologically between Ian Fleming’s Live and Let Die and Diamonds Are Forever. His return to the world of Bond was warmly received by fans last year. The audio edition of The Hook And The Eye will be released worldwide on 5 August 2026.
Young Bond fans also have something to look forward to, as Ian Fleming Publications is releasing a new paperback edition of Danger Society: The Young Bond Dossier by Charlie Higson. Originally published during the height of the Young Bond series, the richly illustrated book is regarded as an extensive guide to the world of the young James Bond. Alongside background information, the book features character profiles, gadgets, vehicles, locations, illustrations and an exclusive short story by Charlie Higson.
The reissue appears far from coincidental. It was previously announced that Big Finish will release an audio drama adaptation of SilverFin, Higson’s first Young Bond novel, later this year. With this new edition, Ian Fleming Publications is clearly aiming to shine a spotlight once again on the popular Young Bond series. Danger Society: The Young Bond Dossier will be published on 3 September 2026.
The third announced release may well be the most interesting for Fleming collectors and Bond historians. Ian Fleming – The Notes by John Pearson will receive its first regular hardback edition. The book contains the original notes Pearson made in 1965 while researching Ian Fleming. Pearson later wrote The Life of Ian Fleming, the first official biography of the Bond creator, and even earned the nickname “James Bond’s only authorised biographer”.
Until now, The Notes had only been available in a very limited edition, but that is finally about to change. According to Ian Fleming Publications, the book offers a unique behind-the-scenes insight into Fleming’s life, as well as Pearson’s own search for the man behind 007. The hardback edition will be released on 18 November 2026.
With these three new releases, Ian Fleming Publications continues to invest heavily in the literary Bond universe.
