Op Global James Bond Day komt OMEGA met een bijzondere uitbreiding van zijn 007-collectie. Voor het eerst in de ruim dertig jaar durende samenwerking tussen OMEGA en James Bond staat niet alleen de geheim agent centraal, maar krijgt ook zijn bekendste vijand een eigen horloge.
De nieuwe Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond and SPECTRE Collection brengt de twee kanten van het Bond-universum samen in één collectie van zes horloges. De timing is veelzeggend. Terwijl de filmreeks zich momenteel tussen twee Bond-acteurs bevindt en de opvolger van Daniel Craig nog niet bekend is, houdt OMEGA de verbinding met 007 nadrukkelijk levend. Sinds Pierce Brosnan in GoldenEye uit 1995 voor het eerst een Seamaster 300M droeg, is het horloge uitgegroeid tot een vast onderdeel van het moderne Bond-imago. De nieuwe collectie speelt daarop in, maar kiest tegelijkertijd voor een verrassende invalshoek: de strijd tussen Bond en SPECTRE.
Van de zes modellen zijn er twee reguliere uitvoeringen van roestvrij staal. Eén is volledig geïnspireerd op James Bond, terwijl de andere de duistere uitstraling van SPECTRE heeft. Daarnaast introduceert OMEGA twee gelimiteerde sets, elk bestaande uit een stalen uitvoering en een luxueus model in platinum-gold. Beide sets worden beperkt tot slechts 77 exemplaren.
Bond blauw, SPECTRE zwart
De twee stalen modellen delen dezelfde basis: een 42 millimeter grote Seamaster Diver 300M met een waterdichtheid van 300 meter en OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806. Het uurwerk heeft een gangreserve van 55 uur en is bestand tegen magnetische velden tot 15.000 gauss. Beide horloges zijn bovendien uitgevoerd zonder datumvenster, waardoor het ontwerp opvallend strak blijft. De James Bond Edition herken je direct aan de blauwe aluminium wijzerplaat met het kenmerkende, lasergegraveerde golfpatroon van de Seamaster Diver 300M. De lunette is voorzien van een Grade 5 titanium ring en de wijzers en uurmarkeringen zijn afgewerkt met Super-LumiNova. Het horloge wordt geleverd op een geborstelde stalen meshband, waarmee OMEGA opnieuw aansluit bij de militaire en functionele uitstraling die Bond-horloges de afgelopen jaren hebben gekregen.
De SPECTRE Edition kiest voor een compleet andere uitstraling. De wijzerplaat is zwart en heeft een korrelige afwerking, terwijl de lunette is voorzien van een zwarte keramische ring. Op de rotor aan de achterzijde is niet het traditionele 007-symbool te vinden, maar het kenmerkende octopuslogo van SPECTRE. Daarmee is voor het eerst ook de tegenstander van Bond letterlijk onderdeel geworden van een OMEGA Seamaster.
Een collectie voor verzamelaars
De twee bijzondere boxsets tillen de collectie naar een heel ander niveau. Zowel de James Bond- als de SPECTRE-set bestaat uit een stalen Seamaster Diver 300M en een tweede exemplaar uitgevoerd in platinum-gold. De luxe modellen beschikken over bijzondere wijzerplaten met respectievelijk een gun-barrel- en octopuspatroon. De sets worden geleverd in speciaal ontworpen houten presentatiekoffers en zijn beperkt tot 77 genummerde exemplaren.
Voor liefhebbers die geen verzamelset van bijna negentigduizend euro willen aanschaffen, zijn de twee stalen modellen een aanzienlijk toegankelijker alternatief. Zowel de James Bond Edition als de SPECTRE Edition kost €8.500 en is vanaf 5 oktober verkrijgbaar via OMEGA-stores en online. Met deze collectie laat OMEGA zien dat de relatie met 007 veel verder gaat dan het simpelweg reproduceren van een horloge uit een Bond-film. De Seamaster is inmiddels onderdeel van de identiteit van James Bond zelf.
On Global James Bond Day, OMEGA unveils a special expansion of its 007 collection. For the first time in the more than thirty-year partnership between OMEGA and James Bond, the secret agent is not the only one in the spotlight – his most notorious adversary is getting a watch of his own.
The new Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond and SPECTRE Collection brings the two sides of the Bond universe together in a collection of six watches. The timing is significant. With the film series currently between Bond actors and Daniel Craig’s successor yet to be announced, OMEGA is keeping its connection with 007 firmly alive. Since Pierce Brosnan first wore a Seamaster 300M in GoldenEye in 1995, the watch has become an integral part of the modern Bond image. The new collection builds on that legacy, while taking a surprising approach: the battle between Bond and SPECTRE.
Of the six models, two are regular stainless steel versions. One is entirely inspired by James Bond, while the other embraces the darker aesthetic of SPECTRE. In addition, OMEGA introduces two limited-edition sets, each comprising a stainless steel model and a luxurious Platinum-gold version. Both sets are limited to just 77 examples.
Bond in blue, SPECTRE in black
The two stainless steel models share the same foundation: a 42 mm Seamaster Diver 300M with 300-metre water resistance and OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806. The movement offers a power reserve of 55 hours and is resistant to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. Both watches also feature a no-date design, giving them a particularly clean and uncluttered appearance.
The James Bond Edition is immediately recognisable by its blue aluminium dial, featuring the distinctive laser-engraved wave pattern of the Seamaster Diver 300M. The bezel is fitted with a Grade 5 titanium ring, while the hands and hour markers are finished with Super-LumiNova. The watch is presented on a brushed stainless steel mesh bracelet, once again reflecting the military and functional aesthetic that has characterised Bond watches in recent years.
The SPECTRE Edition takes a completely different approach. Its black dial features a textured finish, while the bezel is fitted with a black ceramic ring. On the rotor visible through the caseback, the traditional 007 emblem is replaced by SPECTRE’s distinctive octopus logo. For the first time, Bond’s adversary has quite literally become part of an OMEGA Seamaster.
A collection for collectors
The two special box sets take the collection to an entirely different level. Both the James Bond and SPECTRE sets contain a stainless steel Seamaster Diver 300M alongside a second example crafted in Platinum-gold. The luxurious models feature distinctive dials with gun barrel and octopus patterns respectively. The sets are presented in specially designed wooden presentation cases and are limited to 77 individually numbered examples.
For enthusiasts who do not wish to invest in a collector’s set costing almost €90,000, the two stainless steel models offer a considerably more accessible alternative. Both the James Bond Edition and the SPECTRE Edition are priced at €8,500 and are available from 5 October through OMEGA boutiques and online. With this collection, OMEGA demonstrates that its relationship with 007 goes far beyond simply recreating a watch from a Bond film. The Seamaster has now become an integral part of James Bond’s identity itself.
