De wereldberoemde Aston Martin DB5 uit de film Goldfinger wordt dit jaar (opnieuw) uitgebracht door miniatuuruitgeverij AutoArt.
Het schaal 1:18 schaalmodel van AutoArt van de beroemde DB5 is een gewild verzamelobject. In het verleden kwam de Duitse fabrikant van schaalmodellen met een James Bond-serie waarin de Aston Martin DB5 in twee varianten verscheen: met en zonder de gadgets uit de film Goldfinger. Nu, ter gelegenheid van de 60e verjaardag van de film, komen ze met een nieuwe editie.
Er is nog niet veel bekend over het nieuwe model. Alleen dat het in het laatste kwartaal van 2024 zal worden uitgebracht en dat de schaal opnieuw 1:18 is. Er zijn echter al wel foto’s van het model vrijgegeven op de website. Wat opvalt is dat de behuizing van de roterende nummerplaten aan de voorkant afkomstig is van de promotievoertuigen die gebruikt werden voor Goldfinger en Thunderball. Wat leuk is, is dat aan de achterkant het ‘GB’-bord de juiste grootte heeft. Aan de onderkant is aandacht besteed aan de verschillende leidingen die er lopen. Leuk dus om dit voertuig bijvoorbeeld op een spiegel te zetten.
Het interieur is met zorg afgewerkt, maar helaas missen we het karakteristiek Elephant Grey interieur. Opvallend is dat vilt is gebruikt om tapijt te simuleren. En als de achterklep wordt geopend, zie je de installatie die voor de gadgets zorgt. En dat geeft een extra dimensie aan deze auto.
AutoArt’s Aston Martin DB5 heeft de gadgets die we kennen uit de film:
- Roterende nummerplaten voor en achter;
- Uitschuifbare bumperdelen;
- Bandensnijders op de achterwielen;
- Wegklapbare richtingaanwijzers met machinegeweren erachter;

AutoArt’s 1:18 scale model of the famous DB5 is a sought-after collector’s item. In the past, the German scale model manufacturer came out with a James Bond series in which the Aston Martin DB5 appeared in two variants: with and without the gadgets from the film Goldfinger. Now, to mark the 60th anniversary of the film, they are coming out with a completely new edition.
Not much is yet known about this new model. Only that it will be released in the last quarter of 2024 and that the scale will again be 1:18. However, pictures of the model have already been released on the website. What is striking is that the housing of the rotating number plates at the front is from the promotional vehicles used for Goldfinger and Thunderball. What is nice is that at the back, the ‘GB’ sign is the right size. At the bottom, attention has been paid to the various pipes running through it. So nice to put this vehicle on a mirror, for example.
The interior is finished with care, but unfortunately we miss the characteristic Elephant Grey interior. Interestingly, felt has been used to simulate carpet. And when the tailgate is opened, you can see the installation that takes care of the gadgets. And that adds an extra dimension to this car.
