Mede-oprichter van de Ian Fleming Foundation, Doug Redenius, heeft op sociale media onthuld dat de restauratie van de Jetstar uit Goldfinger is voltooid.
“Na 3 jaar hard werken is de Jetstar uit de Bondfilm ‘Goldfinger’ uit 1964 uit zijn graf herrezen. We zijn zo trots op iedereen die heeft meegeholpen aan de restauratie. Connery, Elvis en Muhammad Ali maken deel uit van de lange en legendarische carrière van deze jet. Nu op naar het volgende hoofdstuk in zijn leven,” aldus Redenius.
Op 11 november 2021 kondigde de Ian Fleming Foundation aan dat ze de voorkant van het originele vliegtuig uit de film hadden teruggevonden en dat de restauratie zou beginnen. De foto’s die werden gepubliceerd lieten zien dat er nog veel werk aan de winkel was. Maar inmiddels is dat dus bereikt. Of de cockpit ook daadwerkelijk ergens tentoongesteld zal worden is nog niet bekend. De stichting leent onder andere hun originele James Bond voertuigen uit voor tentoonstellingen zoals Bond In Motion.
Afgelopen februari werden op de PropStore Entertainment Treasures from Film and Television veiling nog twee onderdelen van het originele vliegtuig verkocht, waaronder een origineel raam en zuurstofmaskers.
De Ian Fleming Foundation is een stichting zonder winstoogmerk die zich inzet voor het behoud van het creatieve werk van Ian Fleming, zowel de boeken als de films. In de afgelopen 30 jaar is de stichting erin geslaagd om verschillende voertuigen op te sporen, te restaureren en uit te lenen voor tentoonstellingen.

The photos that were published showed that there was still a lot of work to do. But that has now been achieved. Whether the cockpit will actually be put on display somewhere is not yet known. Last February, the PropStore Entertainment Treasures from Film and Television auction sold two more parts of the original plane, including an original window and oxygen masks.
The Ian Fleming Foundation is a non-profit foundation dedicated to preserving Ian Fleming’s creative work, both books and films. Over the past 30 years, the foundation has managed to track down, restore and loan several vehicles for exhibitions.
