La-La Land Records heeft opnieuw een bijzondere toevoeging gedaan aan zijn groeiende reeks James Bond-uitgaven op vinyl. Eerder verscheen ter gelegenheid van het 50-jarig jubileum van de film The Man with the Golden Gun de dubbel-CD en nu een geremasterde en uitgebreide 2LP-uitgave van de iconische soundtrack, gecomponeerd door John Barry.
De nieuwe release zet de lijn voort die La-La Land de afgelopen jaren heeft ingezet: het opnieuw uitbrengen van klassieke Bond-scores in luxe, gelimiteerde edities voor verzamelaars. De muziek van The Man with the Golden Gun, oorspronkelijk uitgebracht in 1974 en uitgevoerd met de bekende titelsong van Lulu, krijgt in deze editie een grondige restauratie en uitbreiding. Eerder verscheen al een uitgebreide jubileumeditie op cd, met extra tracks en alternatieve versies die nooit eerder officieel beschikbaar waren.
De nieuwe vinyluitgave presenteert het werk van Barry in een hoogwaardige audiokwaliteit en is, net als eerdere releases van het label, gericht op zowel audioliefhebbers als Bond-verzamelaars. Daarmee onderstreept La-La Land Records opnieuw zijn reputatie als dé uitgever voor uitgebreide en zorgvuldig samengestelde Bond-soundtracks. Deze release staat echter niet op zichzelf. Specifiek op vinylgebied heeft La-La Land de laatste tijd extra stappen gezet. Zo verscheen in 2025 een gelimiteerde LP-uitgave van Goldfinger, voor het eerst in decennia volledig gerestaureerd en samengesteld in één definitieve versie. Deze release bevatte alle originele muziekcues en werd uitgebracht in verschillende verzamelvarianten, wat het tot een gewild item maakte onder fans. Ook Moonraker kreeg een luxe 2LP-behandeling, met meerdere exclusieve edities die elk een eigen visuele stijl hadden op het vinyl zelf. Deze releases bevatten bovendien niet eerder uitgebrachte muziek en werden in zeer beperkte oplages geproduceerd, wat bijdroeg aan hun verzamelwaarde.
Met The Man with the Golden Gun voegt La-La Land nu opnieuw een belangrijke titel toe aan deze groeiende vinylcollectie. De keuze voor deze soundtrack is opvallend, omdat het een van de meer exotische en experimentele scores van Barry is, met invloeden die passen bij de Aziatische setting van de film en het duel tussen James Bond en de iconische schurk Francisco Scaramanga.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the film The Man with the Golden Gun two years ago, a remastered and expanded 2LP edition of the iconic soundtrack, composed by John Barry, is now being released.
The new release continues the approach La-La Land Records has pursued in recent years: reissuing classic Bond scores in deluxe, limited-edition formats for collectors. The music of The Man with the Golden Gun, originally released in 1974 and featuring the well-known title song performed by Lulu, receives a thorough restoration and expansion in this edition. An earlier expanded anniversary CD release had already included additional tracks and alternate versions that were never previously available in an official capacity.
The new vinyl edition presents Barry’s work in high-quality audio and, like previous releases from the label, is aimed at both audiophiles and Bond collectors.
