007 First Light update augustus 2026

Jack wordt vrijgespeeld zodra 007 First Light zeven miljoen wishlists bereikt.

Nintendo Switch 2

August was an important month for 007 First Light. IO Interactive announced that the new James Bond game had sold more than four million copies. There was also news about the Nintendo Switch 2 version, the game became Steam Deck Verified, and the developer announced a major graphical update.

On 20 August, IO Interactive announced that 007 First Light had sold four million copies during its first three months following release. The game has therefore reached an important commercial milestone. Notably, this figure was achieved before the Nintendo Switch 2 version has even been released. The game is currently available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, while the version for Nintendo’s new console is scheduled for release later this year.

There was also good news for Steam Deck owners. At the end of July, the game received Valve’s official Steam Deck Verified status, having initially been classified as Playable. The highest rating means that, according to Valve, First Lightmeets the requirements for features including controller support, display compatibility and overall system compatibility. A Verified status does not, however, guarantee a specific frame rate.

Another notable addition is Jack the Bulldog, who was announced by IO Interactive in August as the first animal companion in the Tactical Simulation mode. Jack will be unlocked once 007 First Light reaches seven million wishlists. For Bond fans, the choice of this particular bulldog will be instantly recognisable: the character is based on the Royal Doulton bulldog seen on M’s desk in SkyfallSpectre and No Time to Die.

First impressions of the Switch 2 version

The Nintendo Switch 2 version received its first extensive demonstration at Gamescom in Cologne. ExpectingMrBond.com had the opportunity to play the version themselves on 26 August. The playable demo began with the prologue in Iceland and lasted eighteen minutes. The first impression was positive. IO Interactive is targeting 1080p at a locked 30 frames per second on Switch 2, both in handheld and docked modes. Although the textures were visibly less detailed than on PlayStation 5, no noticeable problems with texture streaming or compression were observed during the demonstration.

The demo does not, however, provide a complete test of the game’s performance. The Iceland section features relatively limited sightlines, few enemies and no large-scale firefights. Locations such as the Grand Carpathian, the airport and Vietnam will provide a much better indication of how the Switch 2 version performs under more demanding conditions.

Interestingly, IO Interactive has not scaled back every aspect of the game to the same extent. The biggest compromises have been made in areas such as textures, geometry and rendering, while animation, physics and audio remain much closer to the other versions, according to the developer.

New content and technical improvements

August also brought news for PC players. On 25 August, IO Interactive announced that a major graphical update would arrive on 15 September. The update will add Path Tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction, further enhancing elements such as lighting and reflections. At the end of the month, update 1.1.1 was also released, focusing on stability and resolving various technical issues. Among other things, the update addressed an issue that could cause a black screen when launching the PC version, while several problems relating to achievements were also fixed.

New content was also added to the Tactical Simulation mode in August, including new outfits and other unlockable items. The original 007 First Light soundtrack, composed by The Flight, was also released digitally. The music subsequently received a nomination for the Game Music Award at the World Soundtrack Awards.
