Tracks als ‘M Will See You Now’, ‘Universal Exports’, ‘What’s in Q-Lab?’ en ‘Earn The Number’ begeleiden enkele van de belangrijkste scènes uit het verhaal.

With the release of 007 First Light, the long-awaited soundtrack has also made its way to digital streaming platforms. Music label Milan Records has released the complete album digitally. Composed by British duo The Flight – Joe Henson and Alexis Smith – the soundtrack features no fewer than 38 tracks, with a total running time of more than 110 minutes.
The Flight is no stranger to the world of video games. The duo previously composed the music for titles including Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. For 007 First Light, Henson and Smith were tasked with creating an entirely new musical identity for a young James Bond while remaining true to the rich musical heritage of the franchise.
To ensure that connection with Bond’s musical legacy, David Arnold was closely involved in the project. The composer, best known for his scores for Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, served as a musical adviser and made a creative contribution to the score. His extensive experience with the Bond franchise helped The Flight develop a contemporary sound that nevertheless feels unmistakably James Bond.
According to Milan Records, the soundtrack draws inspiration from more than six decades of Bond music. Classic orchestral arrangements are combined with modern electronic textures to create a score that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. The music also evolves alongside Bond himself, charting his journey from an inexperienced Royal Navy air crewman to the secret agent who ultimately earns his coveted 00 status.
Players of the game will instantly recognise many of its key moments. Tracks such as ‘M Will See You Now’, ‘Universal Exports’, ‘What’s in Q-Lab?’ and ‘Earn the Number’ accompany some of the story’s most memorable scenes. Subtle musical nods to the classic Bond sound appear throughout the score without relying solely on nostalgia. The unmistakable musical language established by Monty Norman and John Barry is an obvious influence, while David Arnold’s involvement helps the soundtrack feel like a natural bridge between the Bond films and this new generation of Bond.
With 007 First Light, The Flight proves that James Bond is perfectly at home in the world of modern video games. The score is cinematic, dynamic and ambitious. Its blend of sweeping orchestral passages, powerful percussion and subtle electronic elements perfectly complements the game’s action, stealth and espionage.
David Arnold’s influence is clearly evident throughout. Not because his familiar Bond motifs are constantly repeated, but because the music captures the same elegance, suspense and grandeur that define his film scores. Rather than overusing recognisable Bond themes, The Flight employs them sparingly, allowing the soundtrack to establish a distinctive identity of its own. As a result, the game’s finale, in which Bond finally earns his 00 status, becomes all the more rewarding.
At almost two hours in length, the album inevitably includes a number of short, functional cues that are less compelling when heard outside the context of the game. This occasionally makes the middle section feel somewhat fragmented. Fortunately, highlights such as ‘Born of Fire’, ‘Do the Unexpected’, ‘Knightfall’, ‘Shaken’ and ‘Earn the Number’ stand out as accomplished Bond compositions that are equally enjoyable as standalone listening.
007 First Light delivers a fresh, contemporary Bond score that successfully balances tradition with innovation. Thanks to the combination of The Flight’s talent and David Arnold’s creative guidance, the music feels both reassuringly familiar and excitingly new. It undoubtedly ranks among the strongest musical Bond projects of recent years. Whether the soundtrack will also receive a physical release has yet to be announced.
