Er zijn grote leveringsproblemen ontstaan rondom de Collector’s Edition van 007 First Light, de nieuwe James Bond-game die vandaag officieel is verschenen. Door een fout in het distributieproces lijkt deze speciale editie voorlopig nauwelijks beschikbaar in Europa, zelfs niet voor spelers die de game maanden geleden al hebben besteld.
Op sociale media stromen de klachten inmiddels binnen. Verschillende gebruikers melden dat hun bestelling plotseling is uitgesteld tot december van dit jaar. Vooral kopers in Nederland, Duitsland en andere Europese landen lijken getroffen. Opvallend genoeg zijn er vooralsnog geen meldingen van vergelijkbare problemen buiten Europa. Vermoedelijk ligt het probleem bij Amazon in Europa.
Martin den Herder, oud-podcastmaker van The 00-Files en voormalig redacteur van James Bond Nederland, bevestigt tegenover Bondesque Magazine dat er daadwerkelijk iets misgaat in de distributieketen. “Blijkbaar is er iets misgegaan met de levering. Alleen in Nederland zijn er al tientallen klachten en meldingen binnengekomen,” aldus Den Herder, die contact heeft gehad met Amazon over de situatie.
De problemen lijken zich specifiek te beperken tot de Collector’s Edition. Spelers die de standaardeditie of de duurdere Specialist- en Legacy Edition hebben besteld, hoeven volgens de huidige informatie geen vertraging te vrezen. Dat zorgt voor extra frustratie bij verzamelaars die juist bewust voor de exclusieve Collector’s Edition hebben gekozen.
Sommige fans overwegen inmiddels alsnog een andere versie van de game aan te schaffen om vandaag toch te kunnen spelen. Dat brengt echter extra kosten met zich mee, zeker wanneer de oorspronkelijke bestelling niet eenvoudig geannuleerd kan worden. Op verschillende fora wordt bovendien geklaagd over gebrekkige communicatie vanuit retailers en het ontbreken van duidelijke verzendinformatie.
De Collector’s Edition geldt als de op één na duurste uitvoering van 007 First Light en heeft een verkoopprijs van 199,99 euro. Kopers ontvangen onder meer een goudkleurig masker dat onderdeel uitmaakt van het in-game Obsidian Gold Suit, naast diverse pre-orderbonussen en exclusieve cosmetische content.
Daarnaast is er nog een luxere uitvoering beschikbaar: de Legacy Edition van 299,99 euro. Deze editie bevat onder andere een replica van de iconische Golden Gun uit de James Bond-films. Opvallend detail is dat de replica niet uit de houder gehaald kan worden, iets waar sommige fans vooraf al kritiek op hadden. Liefhebbers hopen nu vooral op snelle duidelijkheid van winkels en distributeurs over wanneer de vertraagde Collector’s Editions alsnog geleverd zullen worden.

Major delivery issues have emerged surrounding the Collector’s Edition of 007 First Light, the new James Bond game that was officially released today. Due to an apparent error in the distribution process, this special edition currently seems to be scarcely available across Europe, even for players who pre-ordered the game months ago.
Complaints have been pouring in on social media. Several users report that their orders have suddenly been delayed until December this year. Buyers in the Netherlands, Germany, and other European countries appear to be particularly affected. Interestingly, there have so far been no reports of similar issues outside Europe.
Martin den Herder, former podcast host of The 00-Files and former editor of James Bond Nederland, confirmed to Bondesque Magazine that something has indeed gone wrong within the distribution chain. “Apparently, something went wrong with the delivery. In the Netherlands alone, dozens of complaints and reports have already come in,” said Den Herder, who has been in contact with Amazon regarding the situation.
The problems appear to be limited specifically to the Collector’s Edition. According to current information, players who ordered the standard edition or the more expensive Specialist and Legacy Editions should not expect any delays. This has caused additional frustration among collectors who deliberately opted for the exclusive Collector’s Edition.
Some fans are now considering purchasing another version of the game in order to play it today after all. However, this would involve additional costs, especially if the original order cannot easily be cancelled. Various online forums have also seen complaints about poor communication from retailers and the lack of clear shipping information.
The Collector’s Edition is the second most expensive version of 007 First Light and carries a retail price of €199.99. Buyers receive, among other items, a gold-coloured mask that forms part of the in-game Obsidian Gold Suit, alongside several pre-order bonuses and exclusive cosmetic content.
In addition, an even more luxurious version is available: the Legacy Edition, priced at €299.99. This edition includes a replica of the iconic Golden Gun from the James Bond films. One notable detail is that the replica cannot be removed from its display holder, something that some fans had already criticised beforehand. Fans are now mainly hoping for swift clarification from retailers and distributors regarding when the delayed Collector’s Editions will finally be delivered.
