The cast of Young Bond: SilverFin, the new full-cast audio drama based on Charlie Higson’s Young Bond novel, is becoming increasingly impressive. Big Finish and Ian Fleming Publications have today announced seven new actors and the roles they will play.
The production will be released on 29 October 2026 and consists of sixteen episodes, each approximately half an hour long, making up around eight hours of audio. Tim McInnerny, known for Blackadder and Game of Thrones, plays Bond’s Uncle Max, while Miranda Raison takes on the role of his Aunt Charmian. Raison is best known for the television series Spooks and her recent West End appearance in Grace Pervades, alongside Ralph Fiennes.
The young Bond’s principal adversaries have also now been cast. William Hope, who played Gorman in Aliens, provides the voice of the sinister Lord Hellebore. Paterson Joseph, known for Peep Show and Wonka, plays the German scientist Dr Perseus Friend.
Writer and director Barnaby Edwards is enthusiastic about the new cast. According to Edwards, McInnerny and Raison were able to bring the period in which the story is set convincingly to life, while also giving their characters depth and emotion. Of William Hope, Edwards says that he made a particularly strong impression as Lord Hellebore. His scene in a fog-shrouded marsh, Edwards says, reminded him of Beowulf.
Paterson Joseph also proved to be perfect for his role, according to Edwards. The German scientist required a specific German accent that needed to sound light and playful, yet menacing and unsettling at the same time. A single recorded WhatsApp voice note from Joseph was enough, Edwards says, to prove that he was the right actor for the part.
The latest announcement also includes three actors with particularly notable connections to the Bond universe. Lucy Fleming, Ian Fleming’s niece, plays Madame Ouspenskaya. Timothy Bentinck, who provided the voice of James Bond in several video games during the 1990s, plays Sergeant White. Penelope Rawlins takes on the role of Alfie Kelly. She is related to Bertie Bruce-Lockhart, who is considered to have been one of the people who inspired Ian Fleming when creating James Bond.
The seven new additions join the previously announced cast. Isaac Rouse plays the young James Bond, while Charlotte McBurney portrays Wilder Lawless. Author Charlie Higson, who wrote the original Young Bond novel, also appears as Mr Merriot. Miriam Margolyes plays Cleek MacSawney, Harry Marcus plays Red Kelly, and Christopher Nathanplays George Hellebore.
SilverFin tells the story of a young James Bond during his teenage years. The audio drama is written and directed by Barnaby Edwards, with Robert Valentine and Lizzie Worsdell serving as producers. The two volumes will be released on 29 October 2026 through Big Finish and the Ian Fleming Shop.
Each volume runs for approximately four hours and is available separately as a digital download or as a digital download with a collector’s edition CD. Several bundles are also available, including a limited Platinum edition featuring both CD box sets, digital downloads, an exclusive Young Bond Intelligence Report and a selection of commemorative memorabilia.
