Tot de titels in de bredere On The Tracks-bibliotheek behoren daarnaast On the Tracks of 007: Guide to Thailand, The Beauty of Bond Girls en The Making of OHMSS50.
The world of James Bond is gaining a new travel destination. With Sahara: On the Tracks of James Bond, author Simon Firth takes readers on a journey through the North African locations featured in The Spy Who Loved Me, The Living Daylights and Spectre.
The richly illustrated book will be released on 14 November 2026 and launched that day at a special event in London, attended by several guests from the world of Bond. Actress Maryam d’Abo, who played Kara Milovy in The Living Daylights, and production manager Callum McDougall will be joined by author Simon Firth. The programme includes a Q&A session, a meet-and-greet and prosecco. Attendance is exclusively available to those who pre-order a special collection edition of the book. The venue will be disclosed to attendees separately.
From the Pyramids to the Moroccan Desert
In Sahara, Firth explores the special connection between James Bond and North Africa. The journey takes readers to Cairo’s historic mosques, the monumental temples of Luxor and the rooftops of Tangier. The spectacular landscapes of Morocco also feature, including locations that serve as Afghanistan and Ernst Stavro Blofeld’s remote hideaway in the films.
As with previous On The Tracks of 007 publications, the book goes beyond the familiar scenes seen on screen. Readers will also discover hotels, local cuisine, historical background and stories from people involved in the film productions. Filmmakers and location experts explain how particular scenes came to life. Bond author Raymond Benson also reflects on the journeys that inspired him while writing DoubleShot.
The foreword is written by Callum McDougall, while Maryam d’Abo contributes the afterword. The 224-page publication features full-colour photography and is presented in a luxury hardcover edition.
Three Editions Available
Collectors and Bond enthusiasts can choose from three editions of the book. The standard luxury hardcover costs €39.95 and will be dispatched after 15 November. Those who prefer a signed copy can opt for the luxury hardcover signed by Maryam d’Abo. This edition costs €64.95 and will also be dispatched after 15 November.
The third option is the special collection edition for the London book launch. Also priced at €64.95, it will be signed by Maryam d’Abo, Callum McDougall and Simon Firth at the event. The collection edition also includes admission to the launch and is therefore available for collection only, rather than delivery.
An Expanding Library
With Sahara, Simon Firth further expands his series of travel books dedicated to James Bond. Previous publications have explored locations including the French Riviera, Italy, France, the Bahamas and Jamaica. Other titles in the wider On The Tracks library include On the Tracks of 007: Guide to Thailand, The Beauty of Bond Girls and The Making of OHMSS50.
The books combine film history with travel writing and practical information for enthusiasts wishing to visit the locations themselves. As such, Sahara is not merely a reference work for Bond fans, but also an invitation to discover the landscapes behind some of 007’s most memorable adventures.
