Pamela Salem (1944-2024)

Actrice Pamela Salem, bekend van haar rol als James Bond’s secretaresse Miss Moneypenny in Sean Connery’s Never Say Never Again, is op 80-jarige leeftijd overleden.

Ze werd geboren in 1944 in India, bezocht de universiteit van Heidelberg in Duitsland en de Central School of Speech and Drama in Londen, voordat ze begon in het repertoiretheater in Chesterfield en York.

Haar tv-carrière begon in het begin van de jaren 1970 met gastoptredens in shows als Out Of The Unknown en Jason King. Pamela’s grote doorbraak op het witte doek kwam in 1978 toen ze verscheen in de heist comedy The First Great Train Robbery, haar eerste keer naast Sean Connery. Daarna verscheen ze naast Joan Collins in de film The B**ch uit 1979, gebaseerd op de gelijknamige roman van Joan’s zus Jackie.

Vier jaar later maakte ze een van haar meest memorabele verschijning als Miss Moneypenny in Never Say Never Again. Pamela was bij het grote publiek bekend door haar optredens in Doctor Who en Blake’s 7. Ze was getrouwd met acteur Michael O’Hagan tot zijn dood in november 2017. Het koppel woonde in Surfside, Florida waar Pamela op 21 februari overleed.

Actress Pamela Salem, best known for her role as James Bond’s secretary Miss Moneypenny in Sean Connery’s Never Say Never Again, has died at the age of 80.

Born in India in 1944, she attended the University of Heidelberg in Germany and the Central School of Speech and Drama in London before starting in repertory theatre in Chesterfield and York.

Her TV career began in the early 1970s with guest appearances in shows like Out Of The Unknown and Jason King. Pamela’s big break on the silver screen came in 1978 when she appeared in the heist comedy The First Great Train Robbery, her first time alongside Sean Connery. She then appeared alongside Joan Collins in the 1979 film The B**ch, based on Joan’s sister Jackie’s novel of the same name.

Four years later, she made one of her most memorable appearances as Miss Moneypenny in Never Say Never Again. Pamela was known to the general public for her appearances in Doctor Who and Blake’s 7. She was married to actor Michael O’Hagan until his death in November 2017. The couple lived in Surfside, Florida where Pamela passed away on 21 February.
