Gitarist Victor Harold Flick, beter bekend als Vic Flick, is op 87-jarige leeftijd overleden. Hij is binnen de James Bond-wereld bekend om zijn gitaarsolo in Dr No.
Eind jaren 1950 sloot Flick zich aan bij de groep John Barry Seven. Op de soundtrack van Dr No was hij leadgitarist van het James Bond-thema. Flick bleef bijdragen aan soundtracks van James Bond van de jaren 1960 tot het einde van de jaren 1980.
In 1999 werkte Vic Flick samen met componist Nic Raine, begeleid door het Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, op het James Bond-eerbetoonalbum Bond Back in Action. In 2003 nam hij het album James Bond Now op, met nummers uit de James Bond-films en nieuwe composities. Vic Flick speelde op de soundtrack van Electronic Arts’ videospel From Russia With Love uit 2005.
Uitgeverij Bearmanor Media publiceerde in 2008 zijn autobiografie, Vic Flick Guitarman: From James Bond to The Beatles and Beyond. Op 5 oktober 2012 werd Vic Flick geëerd door de Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences voor The Music of Bond: The First 50 Years.
